About us

Built by people who teach golf

Four golf simulator bays in Hoover. Come and learn the game, or come and get better at it.

How it started

A net in a garage, in 2020

“This is the way forward. Getting launch data and video synced up was absolutely a no brainer.”

Neil Thompson, Magic City Indoor Golf

We were teaching on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail when lessons stopped. So the net went up at home in Ross Bridge, with a launch monitor and a couple of video cameras synced together.

Launch data and video, on the same screen, at the same moment. What the club did and what the body did, together, in the time it takes to hit one ball.

Our own golf got sharper on that same setup. Fifteen or twenty minutes a day, a couple of numbers, a look at the swing. We needed a building.

We opened in April 2024, on Alford Avenue in Hoover, close to Bluff Park and right next to I-65.

What we are

Somewhere to practice properly

Golf simulators are everywhere now. Most of them are going after the entertainment dollar, and we are glad to host a good night out. But we built this room for the player who wants to get better.

Foresight launch monitors overhead, as accurate as indoor golf gets. Swing Catalyst video and balance plates that show you where your weight goes. Four bays and a putting green.

The point is the golf course. What you do in here has to hold up out there.

What each system actually tells you

Juniors

Introducing Juniors to Golf

Junior classes run Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, after school and at weekends. An hour, or an hour and a half.

Five days is on purpose. Plenty of families have more than one junior and more than one sport. Offer one night a week and you have shut most of them out.

A golf school is like a dance studio. Almost everyone who walks in lives within fifteen minutes of the door.

We also teach at Whispering Pines (formerly Pine Tree) Country Club. A junior can take a lesson here and the next one out on grass. Best of both worlds.

Getting out on a golf course is paramount. Otherwise, what is the point of doing it?

Not every junior is going to out-hit the field. Those are the ones we love teaching. Show a junior who cannot overpower a course how to beat people around the green and you have handed them a way to win.

We teach juniors because we learned the game as juniors. It is the right thing to do.

The Magic City Junior Tour

More than ten years of nine-hole events. Ages 7 to 14, boys and girls, dogfight points across the season, and a prize at every event. Parents caddy.

Two hours for nine holes, the same since the first event. Nobody gives up a whole Saturday.

We appreciate the local golf courses that support the initiative.

Who teaches here

Three of us

Three of us teach here, and we do not teach the same way. Between us: PGA membership going back to 2000, a Class A professional teaching since 1993, TPI Level III certification, and a place in Golf Digest's Best Teachers in Every State for 2026-2027, voted by peers.

We still compete. The person reading your swing still has to put their own under pressure.

What is next

A putting green outside

A bigger putting green outdoors, big enough to chip onto. Someone is coming to dig and tell us whether there is more dirt than rock under that ground.

Winter leagues are next. We are asking people what they want out of one before we run it.

The technology keeps moving and we intend to stay current with it. Past that, the thinking has not changed since the garage. Put a good product in front of people and you will be okay.

We would love more members. Come and join us.

An hour in a bay will tell you more than this page can.
